In a blog post, Dr. TM Rohm, senior manager of Samsung’s mobile division, expressed his views on the company’s design strategies and future devices that will be unveiled at the July 26 event. These devices include Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Premium and Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9 Plus and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra tablets.
Regarding Samsung’s design philosophy, Roh pointed out three important features for each of the company’s products, which include necessity, innovation, and harmony. The necessity parameter prioritizes the purposes and ease of use of a product, while innovation emphasizes originality and the coordination parameter means that all elements of a product work for a common goal and are aligned with social and environmental values.
Roh went on to say that Samsung’s latest hardware and software products will include all three of the above features. Regarding the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, Roh said that opening and closing foldable phones requires focusing on the most essential component of these devices, the hinge. In his opinion, the specialized function of the hinge with a minimal appearance shows Samsung’s commitment to necessity-oriented design.
Roh said that the benefits of a thinner phone for users are many, and that’s why Samsung has tried to make its latest foldable phones slimmer and lighter than previous generations and improve their ergonomic standards.
According to Roh, whenever the design of a device is combined with technological innovations, it will provide new possibilities. Using these innovative technologies, users can not only make the most of their moments but also create the best possible future.
