Recent reports indicate that Xiaomi plans to introduce the Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone in China by the end of 2025. A new leaker has claimed that the device will inherit many of its specifications from the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max that was launched in China last month. However, a special feature sets it apart from all other flagships in the market.
According to the leaker, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will share several key features with the 17 Pro Max, including the display, processor, speakers, vibration motor, and fingerprint sensor. This means that the 17 Ultra will have a 6.9-inch OLED display, 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, as well as the 5th generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
However, the Ultra model will stand out with its distinctive large circular camera design, making it a full-fledged photography flagship. DCS has revealed that the device will have a gold color option and emphasized that its strength lies in photography. A previous DCS leak claimed that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will also come in black, white, and purple colors.
The phone is said to have the largest main camera sensor in the industry and introduce next-generation telephoto technology exclusively developed by Xiaomi. The leaker said that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will employ several camera tricks and use a new external lens solution that goes beyond all current external lens zoom systems.
According to the latest leak, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera with improved in-sensor zoom technology and the ability to continuously shift to a telephoto lens. A 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor may also be used for the ultra-wide lens and a 50MP JN5 for telephoto, alongside a 200MP Samsung HPE periscope camera with 4×4 RMSC technology and macro-telephoto capability. The 50 megapixel OmniVision OV50M camera can also be used for selfies.
While the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may borrow many of its specs from the 17 Pro Max, it likely won’t have a secondary rear camera. This model will be available in two versions. Both versions will have UWB support, but the higher-end version will also support Tiantong satellite calling and BeiDou SMS.
