A few months after releasing WhatsApp for the iPad, Meta seems to be on the verge of bringing it to another Apple device. The world’s most popular messaging app may soon be available for the Apple Watch; A feature that makes it much easier to use on Apple’s smart watch.
WhatsApp is testing the Apple Watch version
Today, WhatsApp released a special Apple Watch version for TestFlight beta users on iOS. Meta has yet to make any official announcement about the app, but the release of the beta version suggests that the final version of the WhatsApp app for Apple Watch will soon be available for all iOS users.
The new application allows you to read WhatsApp messages, send replies, add reactions to messages and even send voice messages. All these things are done without opening WhatsApp on the phone or other device. Until now, users could only view and respond to new WhatsApp notifications through the limited features of the Apple Watch itself.
Like the Wear OS version, the WhatsApp application on the Apple Watch also works as a complementary program and cannot be used independently. To run it, you must have a connected iPhone with WhatsApp installed on it. This app is currently only available to beta testers.
Currently, Apple’s Messages app is the only major messenger that offers WhatsApp-like features on the Apple Watch. Programs like Telegram used to have a special version for Apple Watch, but they stopped supporting it; While Messenger and Signal have never offered a version for the Apple Smart Watch.
We have been waiting for a dedicated version of WhatsApp for Apple Watch for years. Many users prefer to keep their phone in their bag when they’re out and about, so being able to send voice messages directly from their wrist can be a really cool experience. If there was an ‘update of the year’ award, we’d give it to WhatsApp without hesitation.
