Apparently, all it takes for a new platform to grow is for its competitors to make the wrong decisions. This is what happened to Elon Musk’s MetaTrader and Twitter.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced today that the number of Trades users has exceeded 70 million. This number of users in just a few days is truly amazing, thanks to the integration of this platform with Instagram. This is definitely a failure for Twitter and Musk’s recent decision to limit Twitter users has caused them to migrate to Twitter.
Elon Musk recently limited the number of tweets that each user can see to 600 tweets per day, which caused dissatisfaction among users. In justifying it, Musk said that he was doing this to deal with data scraping. But this action was enough for many users to look for an alternative to Twitter, and now Trades has become their alternative destination.
Elon Musk has threatened to sue Meta, saying the company violated state and federal laws. Musk has claimed that Meta recruited ex-Twitter employees to create the Trades platform.
It seems that we are facing a war of billionaires and we will have to see where their fight will end. Twitter had about 370 million users in 2022, so Threads still has a long way to go before becoming a serious threat to Twitter.
