Starlink satellite internet has recorded an amazing download speed in Germany. This internet network, which consists of hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit, as the world’s first commercial satellite internet, has been able to attract millions of users, and this has caused its speed to decrease in areas with high demand, including some areas of the United States. . However, Starlink has been able to show off its potential in some cases, and today’s tests show this.
These tests were conducted by a Reddit user who recently installed his Starlink dish in a village in Germany. Starlink speed tests in this European country have often recorded stunning results, perhaps due to less congestion and better positioning of the satellites. SpaceX is gradually expanding its collection of satellites and wants to increase their number to thousands of devices.
Of course, reaching a download speed of 500 Mbps in northern Germany is nothing new, and several users have already reported this speed. One of the first reports dates back to 2021, when a Reddit user in Kassel posted the results. These results were published in the form of three tests, the highest speed of which reached 560 Mbps.
Now, a Reddit user from Munich, Germany, which is a densely populated city, has published pictures on Twitter that show a speed of 638 Mbps. This speed is among the highest speeds ever recorded for Starlink satellite internet and almost matches the best result tested in Munich. Reddit user DankSquared2 managed to record a download speed of 562 Mbps during his first test trip to rural Germany over the weekend, which is faster than most users have experienced. He then ran it again to make sure of his test result and achieved a speed of 638 Mbps.
However, the upload speed has decreased in the second test, so that in the first test this speed was 208 Mbps, but in the second test it has decreased to 177 Mbps.
It seems that Germany is a perfect area to set high records for SpaceX satellite internet due to the location of Starlink satellites. However, it is not expected that the above speeds will be experienced by most users. Ookla data shows that the average Starlink download speed in Germany in the fourth quarter of 2022 was around 94 Mbps. These data show that due to the increase of Starlink users, the download speed has decreased by 13% over the course of a year.
