WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that can automatically silence calls from unknown numbers. This feature is being introduced after the users of India, which is the largest market of this application with more than 500 million users, expressed dissatisfaction with the increase in spam calls in the past months.
This feature was introduced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg along with a new Privacy checkup option. He said that using this feature, users can automatically silence incoming calls from unknown numbers and have more control over their privacy.
Users can activate this feature by going to Settings > Privacy > Calls and selecting Silence unknown caller option. According to WhatsApp, although by activating this feature, calls from unknown numbers will be turned off automatically, but this call will be displayed in the list of notifications and calls of the application. Therefore, users can later check whether the call was from a familiar person whose number they did not save in their contact list or not.
WhatsApp has also introduced a new Privacy checkup feature, which has been added to the Privacy section. This feature will inform you about various security and privacy controls, which include things like “Choose who can contact you,” “Control your personal info,” “Add more privacy to your chats” and “Add more protection to “your account”.
Users can change settings like two-step verification and can even decide who can share them with the group. It’s also possible to set a reminder timer for disappearing messages and control who can see your profile picture.
