Apple is going to introduce the iPhone 16 series on September 9, corresponding to September 19, and according to rumors, all four models will have 8 GB of RAM. In contrast, the iPhone 17 series that will be released next year will be equipped with 12 GB of RAM.
The increase in RAM is significant and it seems that the reason for this is related to artificial intelligence. This time, Apple Intelligence capabilities will be more cloud-based, and after the release of iPhone 17 models, artificial intelligence will work on the phone, so more RAM is needed to run artificial intelligence capabilities.
Google has also upgraded the RAM of its Pixel 9 series phones, which were released earlier this month. A part of RAM is reserved only for artificial intelligence applications.
Apple, which traditionally ships its iPhones with far less RAM than its Android rivals, will change that practice next year thanks to artificial intelligence, provided the rumor turns out to be true.
