In February of this year, Meta introduced a feature called Broadcast Channels for Instagram, which is a one-way messaging feature that allows content creators to broadcast content without having to post on their homepage. Now Meta is planning to expand broadcasting channels for Facebook and Messenger. Content creators can now send content like photos, videos, and voice notes to their followers.
This feature is a one-way messaging tool and only page admins can post messages on their channels. Therefore, users who are members of the channels can only react to them and participate in polls.
Admins can create a channel directly from their page, and after their first message is posted, Facebook will send a notification to their followers. According to the images published by Mark Zuckerberg, broadcast channels in the Messenger application are also displayed under the Channels tab. Every time the admin sends a message, notifications will be sent to the audience.
Meta said the feature is not yet available everywhere, and those who can’t find the streaming channel option can join a waiting list.
