According to the , citing the University of Tehran, the researchers of the University of Tehran, under the supervision of Ali Akbar Arjamandania, professor of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Tehran, have succeeded in designing and localizing new diagnostic and rehabilitation tools for children with autism disorder, and the scientific effectiveness of these tools in improving working memory, executive functions and reducing children’s behavioral problems has been confirmed.
Arjamandania, the head of this research team, stated that autism as one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders is associated with challenges in the field of social communication, stereotyped behaviors and weakness in eye contact, and said: In addition, serious problems in “active memory”, “executive functions” and “concentration” are also among the other symptoms of this disorder. This research project uses Augmented Reality technology, two main packages. in the names ofMidfielder(Active memory test for children) and “Betahas developed “Inhibition, attention and flexibility rehabilitation training package”.
Tehran University professor added: Based on the findings of this research, the use of the package Beta In the context of augmented reality, it has led to a significant improvement of working memory and executive functions in autistic children and also reduced the severity of their behavioral problems. Since autistic children face difficulties in direct communication with their surroundings, the use of tools based on new technologies such as augmented reality facilitates the process of interaction and learning for them.
Arjamandania said: The efficiency and effectiveness of these packages have been confirmed in various researches and have been published in various domestic and foreign articles. In one of these researches, it was determined by using the rehabilitation package Beta In the context of augmented reality, working memory and executive functions of autistic children are improved and their behavioral problems are also reduced.
