According to Mehr news agency, Hossein Afshin, during his visit to Bushehr province and attended the Persian Gulf University in this province, explained the latest support measures of the Vice-Chancellor of Science, the National Elite Foundation and the National Science Foundation of Iran, and announced that targeted financial support to strengthen the research infrastructure is on the agenda.
He discussed the details of the promotion of the grant in the National Elite Foundation for the recruitment of newly hired professors and continued: In the past, in the form of Kazemi Ashtiani’s project, the professors recruited in the academic faculty received a grant of 100 million tomans upon recruitment, which was increased to 300 million tomans and from October this year to 400 million tomans.
Afshin emphasized: The main goal of this foundation is to focus on students and young professors.
This official went on to discuss the status of the National Science Foundation of Iran and announced: complete transparency in announcing the results of research projects is one of the priorities; So that every university can see the amount of projects submitted, approved and the total amount of approved Riyals transparently on the website of the foundation, and this strengthens the competition based on real performance. He also mentioned: the budget of 100 billion tomans last year of the National Science Foundation has now reached 1000 billion tomans.
In another part of his speech, Afshin considered the main criterion of support from the National Science Foundation to be the concrete outputs of research and clarified: the goal is to support projects whose output is an article, invention or creation of technical knowledge.
He continued: Those projects that need commercialization are first examined by the scientific vice-chancellor, and if they want to leave the laboratory mode or reach production, their path will be directed to the innovation fund.
The head of the National Science Foundation, stating that the support of the scientific vice-chancellor depends on the speed and effort of the applicants, requested the maximum use of these capacities.
Afshin also emphasized: Twenty-seven support centers in universities are supported in the whole country, and the contract of these twenty-seven universities will be signed soon.
In the end, he noted: the support system of the academic vice-chancellor is defined based on the desired growth and output of the universities, and if further growth is observed in the outputs of the Persian Gulf University, the support will be doubled next year.
