Alireza Riasi, a faculty member of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, has designed a system entitled “TUSK” (TUSK), which can be a good alternative to fixed seasal turbine, according to . The idea was first presented by Minesto Sweden.
Referring to the high potential of the system, he said: “Underwater kite systems have very high potential for efficient and affordable extracting clean energy from the sea and the ocean and can play an important role in the future of renewable energy.” Also, given the extensive water strip in the north and south of the country, it will be widely used in the extraction of marine energy in our country.
Explaining the performance of the designed system, the researcher stated: Unlike fixed water turbines, it consists of a kite with a turbine mounted under its wings. The kite is controlled in such a way that it moves the turbine in the form of eight English in the water and covers a large area at a relative speed that is several times faster than the actual speed of underwater flow.
The faculty member of the technical faculty explained the details of the research: This study was conducted in two main sections; The first part is dedicated to flight dynamics and calculating the angles of kite movement along the flight route, and the second part includes the design and analysis of the Ducted Turbine and the numerical simulation of its movement in the turbulent ocean.
According to Riyasi, the simulation accuracy carried out using the theory of design of the favored German faithum is verified.
He announced the average power of 2 kW and a power factor of about 1.5 per cycle by this system and said: The efficiency of this system is far beyond the conventional water turbine.
The University of Tehran, the University of Tehran, said the presence of “canal” around the turbine and the movement of kite along an optimal route was the main factor in the efficiency of the system, adding: “This canal creates vortices and thus form a low -pressure area behind the turbine, which dramatically increases the productivity of the system.”
This study shows that underwater kite systems can play an important role in the future of renewable energy.
