New research suggests that a rocky celestial object called Mini Qamar discovered last year may have been separated from the moon during a huge encounter process that took place years ago. This is the second example of a small moon moving near the Earth’s orbit.
The discovery reflects a multitude of the secret pieces of the moon that move near the earth.
“If there was only one object, it would have been an interesting phenomenon, but the event would have an exception,” said Teddy Carta, a planetary researcher at the Lowell Observatory in Arizona in March. If there are two small moons, that is, there is certainly a population of them.
The Earth passes through the cloud of space as the sun orbit the sun. Some of these waste, such as satellites and spacecraft, are human -made. Other materials are the rocks that were caused by the collisions early in the Solar System. Objects near the Earth (Neo) may pose a threat, so they are tracked by experts.
South African researchers observed a new cliff called 4pt ۱۳۲۲ that moved around the Earth in August. The 4pt3 typically moves slowly and is 2 m / s. Thus, an ideal goal for the project “Research on close lands available” (Manos). So far, only five other asteroids have been identified, moving at the nearest point to Earth with such slow speed.
The researchers concluded that it was not an ordinary asteroid after studying visible and near -infrared data. The compounds of the rock were similar to the rocks brought to the ground during the Apollo missions. The researchers also found that it was 2 to 5 meters in diameter.
Carta and his colleagues estimate that when an object hit the moon, it is separated from it. They hope that by studying asteroid compounds they can link the ingredients to the source and even track the crater created as a result of the process.
Researchers are now searching for possible pieces separated from the moon.
