Researchers believe that walking problems in adults show their need for osteoporosis treatment and fracture prevention.
According to Tekna's technology and technology news service, if adults cannot walk a kilometer, it can indicate problems regarding the risk of fractures in the future. In their recent study, the researchers found that the limitation of walking by patients can indicate their bone health problems. These researchers at Garan Medical Research Institute believe that the difficulty in walking short distances can be related to the high risk of fractures in the next 5 years.
In this research, the data of 267,000 adults over 45 years old were used. These people were asked about their health problems and walking ability. Then they were observed for 5 years for fractures. People with walking problems experienced more fractures in the 5 years after the study. According to this study, people with more limitations in walking will have a higher fracture risk. Because there is a direct relationship between poor walking health and weak bones. Apart from this, other factors such as age, previous falls and fractures, as well as people's weight can also be involved in this study.
