Google plans to develop a new tool called an augmented reality microscope with the help of artificial intelligence technology, which will help doctors to diagnose cancers.
According to Tekna’s technology and technology news service, Google’s new tool, which was developed with the aim of helping doctors in cancer diagnosis, will be developed through the cooperation of this company and the US Department of Defense. In this augmented reality microscope, artificial intelligence is also used to identify thermal maps or the boundaries of objects in real time. According to Google, with the help of technology, in addition to classifying samples, the presence of cancer cells or pathogens can also be identified more easily. Augmented reality microscope was conceptualized for the first time in 2018 and has never been used to diagnose diseases in practice.
So far, 13 augmented reality microscopes have been made as prototypes, which require numerous and significant tests for everyday use. Google stated that the goal of creating this system is to install it in light microscopes in hospitals and clinics. In the future, these microscopes can also provide unique assessments by providing visual feedback, including heat maps or animation.
This is the first time that Google has developed and invested in AI-based tools in its health department. In addition to improving the accuracy of diagnosis, this tool is used to fill medical gaps in places where health care or personnel are not available.
